Aharon Rabinowitz and Red Giant Software have announced a pretty sweet looking add-on called Holomatrix (which is actually a combination of Filter, Expressions and other code rolled up into one AE panel) that allows you to create holographic effects and ghostly effects, particularly for human subjects that have been pre-keyed and placed in other environments. Think Princess Lea streaming out of R2D2′s little camera gizmo, only applied to your AE layers! There are a pretty huge array of parameters the effect filter can use on your footage, and everything is presented nicely inside the Effect Controls panel.
